I was born in 1965 and growing up I always wanted to be a baker/cake maker/confectioner. I started working at the age of 14 in a world famous bake house in Stratford on Avon (Pargetters). I obtained a City and Guilds qualification in Bakery and Confectionary by the age of 18. During that year I also came third in a national competition for Renshaws around the same time.
With the arrival of in-store bakeries in supermarkets all the old bakeries were wiped out, so alternative employment had to found. The next thirty plus years were spent in various roles in food factories making a large variety of food items, ranging from baked beans to crisps.
Recently about 3 years ago (2011) I decided to have a fresh look making cakes and found that so much had changed with it becoming more professional, greater attention to detail and even with all new ingredient advancements.
All of my spare time had been consumed with making cakes and running along side a full time job, this just took up too much of my time. So I had to make a decision to take voluntary redundancy from my work and take the big leap into the cake making business.
So here I am with a nearly full order book looking to make it even fuller and spread the joy of dave demon cakes.
